City Tour of Old San Juan

11:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (transfer time 20 minutes)

Appreciate modern San Juan as you drive in air-conditioned comfort through the areas of Isla Verde and Condado, past Fortín de San Gerónimo and on into Old San Juan, where you’ll indulge in delicious cuisine at a local restaurant. Next, you will be visiting Fort San Cristóbal, a mainstay of the San Juan fortification system, from which the Spanish successfully defended their city from British and Dutch attacks as well as frequent assaults from various pirates. Be sure to search out the dungeon, where there are centuries-old graffiti representing images of Spanish galleons drawn on the walls. From the fort, you will continue on an overview driving tour of Old San Juan that ends in a centrally located plaza, where you will have time to explore on your own. Check out some of the many interesting shops, boutiques and art galleries that have made this historic area their home. Note: The streets and sidewalks in Old San Juan can be steep and uneven.

On the eastern tip of the island, you will board a catamaran and set sail for a tranquil uninhabited isle for a day of relaxation and fun. The sail is a leisurely one that takes about 45 minutes. While relaxing aboard, you will have some spectacular views of the Palomino and Palominito Islands, as well as other small islands and the Cabezas de San Juan lighthouse. Once the boat has landed on the beach, you can beachcomb, collect shells, swim and snorkel in the crystal-clear water, which stays at 80 degrees or warmer throughout the year.

Lunch and tropical drinks will be provided while you are exploring along the beach or the underwater world. Following a leisurely lunch, your boat will head back to the marina on a downwind run. Note: New snorkel gear will be provided for everyone. Please be sure to take along good sunscreen and a T-shirt or cover-up to protect you from the tropical sun (in and out of the water). Towels will be provided.
