General Airport Guidelines
- Per federal guidelines, all travelers are required to wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth at ALL airports and onboard ALL aircraft.
- There are conveniently located hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the airport.
- The airport is cleaning and sanitizing with greater frequency on all high-touch surfaces using hospital-grade products.
- You can reduce the number of person-to-person interactions at airports with options such as online check-in, mobile or print-at-home boarding passes, self-serve kiosks and traveling with minimal baggage.
NOTE: Travelers are responsible for complying with the rules of their local airport, as well as any connecting airports they may travel through, as part of their round-trip flight itinerary.
TSA Response to COVID-19

- Remove belts and all personal items from your pockets such as wallets, keys or phones before entering the checkpoint queue and place them in your carry-on bag (does not apply to TSA PreCheck members).
- Social distancing among travelers in the checkpoint line and among TSA officers with visual reminders of appropriate spacing on checkpoint floors, and opening more checkpoint lanes, where possible, to reduce time spent in line.
- ID verification without physical contact between the TSA officer and the traveler.
- Travelers should keep possession of their boarding pass, place it on the document scanner and show the boarding pass to the TSA officer for visual inspection.
- Reduced physical contact with the implementation of phased installation of acrylic barriers at various points throughout the checkpoint area
- Increased frequency and intensity of cleaning and disinfecting of frequently touched checkpoint surfaces, including security screening equipment and bins
- All TSA officers are required to wear masks and gloves at the checkpoint, and they may be wearing eye protection or clear plastic face shields.
- TSA officers changing gloves after each pat down and at the request of any passenger.
- As a temporary exemption from the 3-1-1- rule, TSA is allowing one liquid hand sanitizer container, up to 12 ounces per passenger, that will be screened separately. All other liquids, gels and aerosols in carry-on bags are limited to 3.4 ounces that must fit in a one quart-sized bag.
